Courageous Community Services makes outdoor recreation accessible for everyone.
For more than 60 years, Courageous Community Services has created a place where individuals with disabilities can experience the joy, friendship, and adventure of summer camp.
Our story began in 1963 with a vision to ensure children and young adults with disabilities had the opportunity to attend summer camp. The first campers arrived in 1965, beginning a tradition that continues today at Courageous Acres.
Each summer, Courageous Acres welcomes campers of a wide range of ages and abilities for experiences designed with inclusion and accessibility at the center. From swimming and outdoor recreation to arts and crafts, music, nature activities, and time spent with friends, camp gives each person opportunities to participate, explore, build confidence, and simply have fun.
For many campers, Courageous Acres is much more than a place they visit for a week each summer. It is a place where friendships are built, independence is encouraged, new experiences are possible, and everyone has the opportunity to belong.
